Let me introduce you to my BEF - Best Eyeliner Friend. This little eyeliner has been with me through thick and thin for about five years. It's been the only liquid eyeliner I have ever used, and I have never needed to look elsewhere. This little beauty did it all. It glided on like a dream, stayed put until I wanted to remove it, was so easy to control and the colour was devine, a silky black. Behold, Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion.
The reason it is a stock photo is because Urban Decay, for some reason, have decided to be annoying and repackaged this eyeliner. I understand they were restyling a lot of their collection, making these eyeliners waterproof and more easily storable, but STILL. This is what they sell it as now:
Now, don't get me wrong. I am a HUGE fan of Urban Decay and their products. I own two Naked and one Naked2 Palettes, use their primers, their lipsticks and their mascaras, and even attended their Naked2 Launch Night last week.
The reason I am so annoyed with Urban Decay is the sneaky, and frankly unethical (in my opinion), way they have went about their repackaging. The old packaging retailed for, I believe, £13. For this you receieved 7.5ml of product. One of these babies could last me a good few months!
The new packaging is £14. For this, you receieve a MEASLY 1.7ml. How are they getting away with that?? Even if I remember the price of the old packaging slightly incorrectly, you are still losing out on nearly 6ml of product!

The formula, as far as I can tell, is still the same, other than the added benefit of being waterproof. It's still a fantastic eyeliner if you were to pick it up for the first time. But for loyal customers, this is a bit of a slap in the face. And so, even though I have used this eyeliner religiously for years, it's time for me to move on. :(I've been trying some felt tip pen style eyeliners, and I'm actually quite enjoying them. Does anyone have any recommendations of a great eyeliner for me to try??
Anyways.
On a brighter note, my boyfriend Scott and I celeberated our 7th Anniversary on Valentine's Day (cheesy I know). We're away to York just now as a treat (hello, scheduled post!!), so for actual Valentine's we decided just to have a wee night in. We made our favourite meal - tuna pasta (NOM!) - and got some wine.
What I didn't know was that Scott had carried a little table and chairs up to his loft bedroom and lit candles everywhere to make it into a wee candlelit dinner! So sweet. I'm a lucky girl. Hope you all had a great Valentine's, if you celebrate it. :)
Let me know!

p.s. Sorry for the rant. =p
Jeez, thats a good point you spotted! Ridiculous what some companies think is acceptable and theyd get away with! Pfffts! xx
ReplyDeleteI know, it just annoyed me how sneakily they did it. =/

I don't blame you for not wanting to buy it again, shame on Urban Decay! Have you tried Collection 2000's felt tip liner? Nothing ground breaking but it's is cheap and cheerful and does the job :) x

Funny you say that, that's the eyeliner I'm using right now! Quite liking it. :)

I have been using recently the maybelline gel with a MAC 209 which works like a dream but another one I have found to be very good is the bourjois 16r Liner Pinceau which is a thin brush applicator as opposed to the felt tip like ones which I have never been able to get to grips with. I don't think you are wrong to moan I think its appalling on behalf of loyal customers. x
ReplyDeleteI was even thinking of contacting Urban Decay!! I will have a look at those, never tried a gel but I'd be up for trying!

Ha thank you for showing me how to leave a comment!
ReplyDelete+1 for the maybelline gel liner, it's really ace!
Haha thank you, no worries! :)

It is so annoying when companies do that. L'Oreal Carbon Gloss is my favoutite liquid liner, easy to apply and doesn't move.
ReplyDeleteI shall have to test that at Boots! :)

That's ridiculous to charge more for less. I always thought that UD was an ethical and reputable company, who I adore, but it's looking like they're not :-/ I have a UD liquid liner in Radium, which I love, but I don't think I'll be buying one of their new eyeliners!!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend Rimmel's Glam Eyes liquid liners. They give quite a fine line with is good for subtle looks, but can still be used for thicker looks too :)
I still love UD products still, but it's just left me feeling a little cheated! I've heard a lot of good things about the Rimmel eyeliner, but they test on animals. :(

L'oreal do an amazing eyeliner called super eyeliner and Maybelline do a cream one in a pot(sorry forgot the name) which is the best eyeliner I have ever used. Definitely recommend it

Just remembered I'm trying to not use products that test on animals, so that rules L'oreal and Maybelline out, ugh! Thanks tho. :(

Maybelline lasting drama gel eyeliner is the best I've come across so far. Soap and Glory's supercat eyeliner isn't too bad either

OMG the buggers! I'd be so peed off too! How the hell are they getting away with that?! It's so annoying when something you've used for so long changes or gets discontinued =(
ReplyDeleteThe liquid eyeliner I use is Rimmel Exaggerate and it's about £5.29 or something like that. The reason I like it is that the applicator is a bit like a felt pen instead of a tiny brush and I get a cleaner line from it. One bottle of this lasts me months!
Lovely moany post Lauren, very imformative!

....and what a beautiful little Valentines night you both had. Very lucky girl indeed! <3

I know, it makes me mad cause I would have probs continued to buy that forever but now they've lost out on that! I like the idea of a pen nib rather than a brush, but Rimmel isn't cruelty free and I'm trying to get all my makeup animal kind! :(
DeleteIt was lovely, so sweet! ^_^
